Music Database Timeline
This tool lets you search for musicians in Wikipedia’s database and display all their albums by release date on a timeline, with clickable links. Add other bands or musicians to compare. Use the Ctrl key and the mouse scroll wheel over the timeline to zoom, or drag sideways using normal scroll or by clicking and dragging with the mouse. Search for a name and click the checkbox. Use the X button in the left column to remove a musician from the comparison. The name in the search field must be correct in order to be found.
Tickets from some concerts I went to in the 90s!
Back then, bands toured mainly to promote their albums, so tickets were very cheap — promotion was already part of the record label contract, since the goal was to sell records. Today, since albums no longer sell, ticket prices are extremely high because that’s where bands make most of their income. I remember tickets costing around R$ 50.00 at the time. It didn’t hurt the budget, considering you could go clubbing for R$ 15.00 or fill a grocery cart for R$ 100.00.
I saw Red Hot Chili Peppers and Alice in Chains at Hollywood Rock. The following year, I saw Robert Plant. I also saw Iron Maiden on the Fear of the Dark tour and Metallica on the Black Album tour — but I don’t have that ticket anymore.
The Black Sabbath show with Dio was also great — from the Dehumanizer tour. The song TV Crimes was playing all the time on MTV back then. I even saw Reverendo Massari at that show. I also went to the legendary Sepultura concert from the Arise album era with Max Cavalera, at Ginásio do Ibirapuera. I also got the Megadeth ticket for the Olympia show because a friend couldn’t go. The sound was so loud that it was hard to hear anything — it was an indoor venue and not very large. There was also a Motörhead show there, but I ended up outside because a crazy girl I used to meet claimed she had a way to get us in for free — it didn’t work. I could easily have seen that one!
Another great concert I went to — though I don’t saved the ticket — was The Cult in December 1991. In fact, it was one of the first concerts I ever went to with my sister. I also went with her to the Legião Urbana show from the Pais e Filhos album tour.
